Repair underground pipe system: A procedure that is done very satisfyingly


We use pipes for many different purposes. We use it also in different ways to make it errorless. Pipes are used both in the upper ground and underground effectively. It carries very important samples such as wires, water, etc. If the pipe is in the upper ground then it is easy to handle. But in case if the pipes are underground then it’s very much difficult to handle as it not possible to dig the soil frequently. So we should take special care when it comes to handling this type of situation. We have to be very careful that the underground pipe has to be without leakage. A leakage pipe can make big problems. It may create problems around that portion of the locality where the pipe is gone through under the soil. So we have to take extra care when any leakage is found in any portion of the pipe. So underground pipe leak repair is very urgent to settle and avoid any kind of accidents.

So we have to concentrate on three points to repair this. They are products, processes, and people. By these three things, we can do better in our job. But at first, if we want to solve these types of risky different problems on pipes we have to require a high degree of engineering skills and technology.

Speed alloy QS is used to harden in just seconds and cure in minutes. These methods are applicable to make the fill of the leakage portion.

Underground pipe repair kits

There are some kits are used which contains:-

  • For leak repair 2×167gm a pack of speed alloy is required.
  • To prevent the active leak we have to be more concerned and be prepared.
  • For active leak repair 1 × 250 gm, a pack of speed alloy is required.
  • There are also 1 mixing board, 1 mixing knife, 1 plastic applicator, 2 pieces of reinforcement tapes (3 in × 3 ft), a roll of sandpaper, 10 prices of alcohol wipes and 50 pairs of latex gloves in the kit box.
If there are flammable liquids in the pipe then no heat required to repair the leak as it may cause an accident.

Steps to follow during repair

There are few steps to repair the leak of an underground pipe which is followed:-

Locate the spot:- the first step you have to do to locate the actual spot where leakage occurs. It is no difficult to identify the right spot for the skillful workers. You can locate two things in dry weather, the first to locate the septic tank and then second is a broken underground waterline. You have to check the ground for spots of puddles or softer soils in wet or stormy weather.
Close the main valve or source:- After finding the spot you have to close the main valve for stopping the flow. Otherwise, you can’t repair the leak. So if you are in City then you have to unplug the pump.

Mark the spot

You then mark the spot and you have to clear the front and the back of the leak area.

Cut out the spot that leak

Then cut out the spot at least six inches on each side of the leak. You have to clean off the weatherproofing of the old pipe.

Solder the pipe

At last heat the pipe and couple with the old one to repair and can take assistance from M&E contractors.
